Finder Extension

Enable the Finder extension for direct right-click access to NoteDrop.

About the Extension

The Finder extension adds "New File Note" directly to the Finder context menu when you right-click a folder. This is optional — Quick Actions work without any setup.

Requirements

Important: NoteDrop must be installed in your Applications folder for the Finder extension to work. It won't work from a DMG or the Downloads folder.

Enabling the Extension

  1. Ensure NoteDrop is in Applications

    Drag NoteDrop.app to your Applications folder if you haven't already.

  2. Open System Settings

    Click the Apple menu → System Settings.

  3. Navigate to Login Items & Extensions

    Go to General → Login Items & Extensions.

  4. Open Extensions

    Click Extensions at the bottom.

  5. Enable NoteDrop

    Find Finder in the list, expand it, and enable NoteDrop.

  6. Restart Finder

    Option-click the Finder icon in your Dock and select "Relaunch".

Alternative: Quick Actions

If you prefer not to enable the extension, use Quick Actions instead:

Right-click any folder → Quick Actions → New File Note

Quick Actions work automatically without any setup.
