Installation, a first note, and where to go next.

Installation

  1. Download NoteDrop

    Download the latest release from the NoteDrop website.

  2. Move to Applications

    Drag NoteDrop.app to your Applications folder.

  3. Launch the app

    Double-click to launch. You'll see a drop icon appear in your menu bar.

Requirements: macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later. The Apple Intelligence features need an Apple-silicon Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on; the Private Cloud Compute options need macOS 27. Everything else works without them.

Quick Start

To make a first note:

  1. Select a project folder

    In Finder, navigate to any project folder.

  2. Trigger NoteDrop

    Press ⌃⌥⌘N, click NoteDrop in the menu bar, or right-click a folder (or a file in it) → New File Note. The first time, macOS asks whether NoteDrop may control Finder so it can see which folder you're in — click Allow.

  3. Write your note

    Check the destination shown at the top of the panel, type your note and press ⌘↩ to save.

The PDF is saved into the project folder.
