Creating Notes
Learn how to create file notes with NoteDrop.
Basic Steps

Invoke NoteDrop
Use any of the entry points: menu bar, keyboard shortcut (⌃⌥⌘N), or Finder context menu.

Select note type
Choose from the dropdown: File Note, Telephone Attendance, Conference Note, etc.

Add description (optional)
Enter a brief description that will appear in the filename.

Write your note
Type your note in the text area. Use the toolbar above the field — or ⌘B / ⌘I — for bold, italic, and lists.

Save
Press ⌘↩ or click Save. The note is saved instantly in your chosen format.
Formatting
The note field has a small toolbar with Bold, Italic, and bullet list buttons. Formatting renders in the saved PDF:
- Bold — toolbar button or ⌘B
- Italic — toolbar button or ⌘I
- Bullet lists — toolbar button, or type

Pressing Return inside a list continues it on the next line; Return on an empty item ends the list. The "Aa" button shows everything available.
The Note Panel
- Resizable — drag any edge or corner to make room for longer notes. The panel remembers your chosen size.
- Dictation — the Dictate button starts macOS voice dictation into the note field.
- Output format — a picker in the action bar switches between PDF, Markdown, or Both.
- Date — optionally, a date and time picker for backdating notes. Enable it in Settings → Documents.
Telephone Attendance
When you select "Telephone Attendance" as the note type, an additional phone number field appears. This number is included in the PDF output.
